Abstract:The tumorigenesis is accompanied by the changes of its surroundings. The tumor microenvironment is not only beneficial to its own growth, but also affects the function of the circumambient cells. Vascular endothelial cells (VECs) usually refer to the monolayer squamous epithelium in inner surface of heart, blood vessels and lymphatic vessels, and VECs existing in the peripheral blood are also addressed as the circulating endothelial cells. VECs normally present in extremely small amounts, and the number of changes can reflect the extent of vascular endothelial damage. This article reviews the biological behavior and functional changes in the development of cancer from the perspective of VECs.
