Abstract:Peroxiredoxin 1(PRDX1) is an important member of the newly discovered non-selenium-dependent peroxidase family and widely found in organisms. As a peroxidase, PRDX1 participates in the regulation of many reactive oxygen species-related signaling pathways, including cell growth, apoptosis, immune response and intracellular environment stability. There are increasing evidence showing that PRDX1 is closely related to the development, invasion and metastasis of various malignancies, and plays a dual role in suppressing and promoting cancer in breast cancer. It is associated with estrogen receptor and has a great potential in diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Here we are going to demonstrate the structure, functions and action mechanisms of PRDX1 as well as the progression in breast cancer.
