Abstract:The non coding RNAs ( ncRNAs) with no protein coding function have a variety of biological functions. The long non coding RNAs( LncRNAs) are a member of ncRNAs found in recent years. The transcript length of LncRNAs range from 200 nt to 100 kb. The abnormal expression of many lncRNAs has the biological functions of facilitating or inhibiting the development and progres?sion of tumor, including breast cancer. Because of their fundamental roles in regulating gene expression and their potential roles in tumor genesis, they are promising class of tissue?and/or blood?based cancer biomarkers. In this review, we will highlight the emerging roles of lncRNAs in breast cancer, and explore their potential clinical value in diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of breast cancer.
