Abstract:Objective To analyze the current research status and trends of venous leg ulcers(VLU)and to provide references for subsequent studies. Methods The literatures published from 2013 to 2024 on VLU were retrieved from the CNKI database, and the data were imported in the format required by Cite Space software for bibliometric visualization analysis. Results This study included 510 VLU-related publications. The annual publication volume showed an overall upward trend followed by a decline:The number of publications gradually increased from 2013 to 2019,peaking at 73 in 2019,then declined thereafter, indicating a slow development stage in the field.Co-word analysis revealed high-frequency keywords such as"nursing"(39 times),"ulcer"(39 times),and"varicose ulcer"(26 times),alongside frequently appearing terms like"clinical efficacy,""venous ulcer,""lower limb,""pressure therapy,"and"varicose vein."Burst key words like"varicose ulcer,""efficacy,"and"quality of life"highlighted a recent research focus shift toward traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)treatments for varicose ulcer and patient quality of life assessment.Cluster analysis(Modularity Q=0.6883,Silhouette S=0.8654,with significant and reasonable clustering structure)identified nine research themes, including TCM-specific interventions centered on"varicose ulcer,""TCM fumigation therapy,"and"quadruple therapy",Western medical techniques such as"laser,""pressure therapy,"and"negative pressure wound therapy",clinical management focused on"nursing,""compliance,"and"wet wound healing",and comprehensive evaluation and technological innovation around"quality of life"and"nanofibers."These findings reflected the deep integration of TCM external treatments with Western medical techniques, emphasizing both clinical efficacy and patients' holistic benefits. Conclusion Domestic research on VLU is shifting from disease management to health promotion, with TCM demonstrating overall regulatory advantages.However,high-quality clinical research support remains necessary.Future efforts should focus on establishing a VLU efficacy evaluation system with Chinese characteristics, promoting the standardized and personalized development of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine.
