Efficacy of Shugan Qingxin formula as adjuvant therapy for hypertension complicated with anxiety and depression of heart-liver depression-heat pattern and its impact on the RAAS

Abstract：Objective To analyze the clinical efficacy of Shugan Qingxin formula as adjuvant therapy for hypertension complicated with anxiety and depression of heart-liver depression-heat pattern and its effect on renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system(RAAS).Methods Eighty patients with hypertension complicated with anxiety and depression admitted from June 2022 to June 2023 were selected.According to the random number table method,they were divided into observation group and control group,with 40 patients in each group.The control group was treated with conventional Western medicine,and the observation group was treated with Shugan Qingxin formula on the basis of conventional treatment.Both groups were treated for 8 weeks.The therapeutic effect,blood pressure variability[24 h mean systolic blood pressure(SBP),nighttime mean SBP,daytime mean SBP,24 h mean diastolic blood pressure(DBP),daytime mean DBP,nighttime mean DBP],traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,anxiety and depression status[Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9),generalized anxiety disorder-7(GAD-7)],RAAS-related indicators(renin,angiotensin Ⅱ,aldosterone)and treatment safety were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate[97.50%(39/40)]and antihypertensive compliance rate[87.50%(35/40)]in the observation group were higher than those in the control group[80.00%(32/40),52.50%(21/40)](P<0.05,P<0.01).At 8 weeks after treatment,the blood pressure variability,TCM syndrome score,anxiety and depression score and RAAS-related indicators in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Shugan Qingxin formula as adjuvant therapy for hypertension patients with anxiety and depression can improve the compliance rate of blood pressure,relieve anxiety and depression,improve blood pressure variability and RAAS abnormalities,and has certain safety.
