Clinical application of minimally invasive percutaneous prying reduction and bone grafting combined with Kirschner wire external fixation in AO type C3 distal radius fracture

Abstract：Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of minimally invasive percutaneous prying reduction and bone grafting combined with Kirschner wire external fixation(KWEF)in patients with OA type C3 distal radius fracture(DRF).Methods A total of 64 patients with OA type C3 DRF admitted from June 2021 to June 2023 were selected as the research subjects.Among them,32 patients were treated with minimally invasive percutaneous prying reduction,bone grafting and KWEF external fixation as the observation group,and 32 patients were treated with open reduction and internal fixation(ORIF)with plate as the control group.The duration of operation,fracture healing time,perioperative blood loss,length of hospital stay,and the recovery of wrist joint(modified Gartland-Werley score)and elbow joint function(Cassebaum elbow joint function score)at 6-month follow-up were compared between the two groups.Results Compared with the control group,the observation group had shorter duration of operation,fracture healing time and length of hospital stay,and less perioperative blood loss,showing significant differences(P<0.01).At 6 months after follow-up,the recovery of wrist joint and elbow joint functions in the observation group was better than that in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05,P<0.01).There were no postoperative complications in either group.Conclusion The recovery of wrist joint and elbow joint function in patients with OA type C3 DRF after minimally invasive percutaneous prying reduction and bone grafting combined with KWEF is better than that in patients who undergo ORIF with plate.Moreover,there is less perioperative blood loss,shorter fracture healing and shorter hospital stay.
