Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical efficacy and safety of acupuncture combined with Tiaoshen acupuncture in the treatment of patients with dry eye syndrome of liver-kidney Yin deficiency pattern. Methods From July 2021 to July 2024,310 patients with dry eye syndrome of liver-kidney Yin deficiency pattern were selected and randomly divided into the control group(treated with conventional Western medicine,n=155)and the research group(treated with Tiaoshen acupuncture combined with conventional Western medicine,n=155).The clinical effect, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores before and after treatment, ocular surface function, symptom scores, quality of life, levels of tear inflammatory factors and incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total clinical effective rate of the research group was 91.61%(142/155),which was higher than that of the control group[81.94%(127/155)](P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of each TCM syndrome, corneal fluorescein staining,Chinese Dry Eye Questionnaire scale, and Ocular Surface Disease Index Scale in the research group were all lower than those in the control group, while the scores of tear secretion test and visual function-related Quality of Life scale-25 were higher than those in the control group, and the tear film break-up time was longer than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of interleukin(IL)-6,IL-1 β and tumor necrosis factor-α in the tear fluid of the research group were lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the research group was 2.58%(4/155),as compared with 1.29%(2/155)in the control group, showing no significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with the treatment with Western medicine alone, the combination of Tiaoshen acupuncture and Western medicine in the treatment of dry eye syndrome of liver-kidney Yin deficiency pattern can significantly improve the clinical effect, effectively improve the TCM syndrome score, optimize the ocular surface function, alleviate dry eye symptoms, enhance the quality of life of patients, and reduce the levels of tear inflammatory factors without increasing the total incidence of adverse reactions. It has high safety and feasibility.
