Abstract:Objective To explore the effects of Jin's three-needle therapy combined with aquatic exercise on electroencephalographic activity and cognitive development of children with mental retardation. Methods A total of 102 children with mental retardation(from January 2021 to June 2024)were enrolled in a randomized study. The children were divided into two groups by the random number table method:the control group, which was treated with aquatic exercise therapy, and the observation group, which was treated with aquatic exercise therapy(n=51)combined with Jin's three-needle therapy(n=51).The clinical efficacy was compared between the two groups, and the scores of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children(WISC),developmental quotient(DQ)scores of different domains(personal-social interaction, language, adaptability),Pediatric quality of Life Inventory(PQLI)scores, and the changes of electroencephalogram Lemple Ziv Complexity(LZC)values in different parts before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the total effective rate of the observation group was higher(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of various items of WISC,DQ,PQLI as well as LZC values of EEG in the left and right frontal regions of the two groups were significantly increased, which were higher in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Jin's three-needle therapy combined with aquatic exercise is effective in the treatment of children with mental retardation, which is beneficial to the development of children's intelligence, cognition and language, and can effectively improve the quality of life of children.
