Observation on the effect of Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli decoction in the treatment of non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease by regulating brain-gut axis-related indicators

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli decoction in the treatment of patients with Parkinson's disease(PD)and its impact on non-motor symptoms and the brain-gut axis.Methods A total of 120 patients with non-motor symptoms of PD from March 2021 to May 2023 were randomly divided into two groups:the control group(treated with Levodopa and Benserazide tablets,n=60)and the observation group(treated with Levodopa and Benserazide tablets combined with Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli decoction,n=60).The clinical efficacy,safety,and traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome scores,non-motor Symptom Rating Scale(NMSS),Hamilton Depression Scale(HAMD),Parkinson's Disease Sleep Scale(PDSS),Chronic Constipation Severity Scale(CSS),39-item Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire(PDQ-39),brain-gut axis-related indicators,and oxidative stress response indicators before and after treatment were compared between the two groups.Results The total effective rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the TCM syndrome scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of NMSS,HAMD,CSS and PDQ-39 in the observation group were lower than those in the control group,while the PDSS score was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of serum cholecystokinin,motilin,gastrin and superoxide dismutase in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,while the levels of serum 5-hydroxytryptamine,substance P,ghrelin,malondialdehyde and 8-hydroxydeoxyguanylate were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).No obvious adverse reactions occurred in both groups during the treatment period.Conclusion The combination of Chaihu Jia Longgu Muli decoction and Levodopa and Benserazide tablets in the treatment of PD has a definite effect.It can improve clinical symptoms,reduce the severity of non-motor symptoms,improve depressive state and constipation,enhance sleep and quality of life,activate the brain-gut axis,inhibit oxidative stress response,and has certain safety.
