Abstract:Objective To explore the impact of preserving the left colic artery(LCA)during laparoscopic radical proctectomy on postoperative complications and prognosis in elderly patients. Methods The clinical data of 128 elderly patients who underwent laparoscopic radical proctectomy from April 2019 to April 2021 were analyzed. They were divided into the observation group and the control group according to whether LCA was preserved during the operation, with 64 patients in each group. The LCA was preserved intraoperatively in the observation group, and the LCA was not preserved intraoperatively in the control group. The perioperative indicators, the occurrence of postoperative complications and the 1-3-year survival rate during follow-up were compared between the two groups. Results There were no significant differences in perioperative indicators between the two groups(P>0.05),nor significant difference in the 1-year,2-year,and 3-year survival rates between the two groups(P>0.05).The total incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Preserving LCA during laparoscopic radical proctectomy can reduce the total incidence of postoperative complications in elderly patients, but has no effect on perioperative indicators and prognosis.
