Abstract:Objective To analyze the levels of CXC-type chemokine ligand 16(CXCL16)and CD64 in children with infectious diarrhea and their diagnostic value. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 96 children with acute infectious diarrhea admitted from June 2021 to June 2024.They were included in the research group, and the control group consisted of 60 healthy children aged 1 to 5 years who underwent routine physical examinations during the same period. The levels of CXCL16 and CD64 between the research group and the control group were compared,as well as the levels of CXCL16 and CD64 at admission in children with acute infectious diarrhea of different severity. The diagnostic efficacy of CXCL16 and CD64 for acute infectious diarrhea was evaluated using the receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve. Results At admission, the levels of CXCL16 and CD64 in the research group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).According to the severity of the disease, they were divided into the mild subgroup(n=29),the moderate subgroup(n=43),and the severe subgroup(n=24).There were differences in the levels of CXCL16 and CD64 among the three subgroups. The levels were the highest in the severe group, followed by moderate group and the mild group(P<0.05).The cut-off values of CXCL16 and CD64 for diagnosing acute infectious diarrhea were 0.53 ng/mL and 4.98%respectively.The area under the ROC curve and sensitivity of combined diagnosis were 0.961 and 95.83%respectively,both of which were higher than those of the diagnosis of each index alone. Conclusion The levels of CXCL16 and CD64 in children with acute infectious diarrhea are higher than those in healthy children, and their levels increase with the severity of the disease. Both CXCL16 and CD64 have certain diagnostic value for acute infectious diarrhea, and the value of combined diagnosis of the two is higher than that of individual diagnosis.
