Abstract:Objective To analyze the comprehensive visual function index(VF-14)score and influencing factors of patients with diabetes mellitus(DM)complicated with cataract after phacoemulsification aspiration. Methods A total of 112 patients with DM complicated with cataract who underwent phacoemulsification aspiration from January 2022 to September 2024 were selected as the observation group, and another 120 elderly cataract patients without DM were selected as the control group. The distribution of VF-14 scores at 1 month after surgery was compared between the two groups, and the correlation between best corrected visual acuity(BCVA)and VF-14 scores was analyzed. The observation group was further divided into the good visual function subgroup(>90 points,n=35)and the poor visual function group(≤90 points,n=77)based on the VF-14 score.Multivariate logistic regression was used to analyze the influencing factors for VF-14 after surgery for DM complicated with cataract. Results At 1 month after surgery, the proportion of VF-14 score>90 points and the VF-14 score in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, while the BCVA was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The BCVA was negatively correlated with VF-14 scores of both the observation group and the control group(P<0.01).Age,combined diabetic retinopathy, duration of DM,lens nucleus hardness grade, preoperative BCVA,preoperative fovea centralis thickness, preoperative glycated hemoglobin, and duration of operation were independent influencing factors for postoperative VF-14 in patients with DM complicated with cataract(P<0.05).Conclusion The postoperative visual function recovery of patients with DM complicated with cataract is worse than that of elderly patients with cataract without DM,and it is jointly affected by the patient's age, combined diabetic retinopathy, duration of DM,lens nucleus hardness grade, preoperative BCVA,preoperative fovea centralis thickness, preoperative glycated hemoglobin and duration of operation.
