Abstract:Objective To explore the relationship between the changes in the expression levels of serum Toll-like receptor 4(TLR4)and human lipoxin A4(LXA4)and the risk of developing fat embolism syndrome(FES)in patients with emergency fracture. Methods A total of 108 patients with FES during hospitalization or after surgery who were admitted due to emergency fractures from January 2022 to January 2024 were selected as the observation group. The control group consisted of 50 randomly selected patients with long bone and/or pelvic fractures of similar conditions during the same period. The levels of serum LXA4 and TLR4 in both groups were detected and statistically analyzed. The correlation between the changes in serum LXA4 and TLR4 levels and the risk of developing FES in patients after emergency fracture was analyzed, and the value of serum LXA4 and TLR4 in diagnosing the risk of FES in patients after emergency fracture. Results The levels of serum LXA4 and TLR4 in the observation group were both higher than those in the control group(P<0.01).Both LXA4 and TLR4 were independent risk factors for the occurrence of FES after emergency fracture(P<0.01).The sensitivity of LXA4 and TLR4 in diagnosing the risk of FES in patients after emergency fracture was 83.30%and 55.60%respectively,and the specificity was 100.00%and 100.00%respectively.Receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)analysis showed that the areas under the curves of LXA4 and TLR4 for diagnosing the risk of FES in patients with emergency fracture were 0.959(95%CI 0.916,1.000)and 0.909(95%CI:0.816,1.000)respectively.Conclusion The levels of serum LXA4 and TLR4 in FES patients after emergency fracture were both elevated. Both LXA4 and TLR4 are correlated with FES after emergency fracture and can be used to diagnose FES after emergency fracture with high accuracy.
