Efficacy and Safety of Tangkang Tongxiao Decoction in the Adjuvant Treatment of Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy with Deficiency of Both Qi and Yin

Abstract：Objective To explore the efficacy and safety of Tangkang Tongxiao decoction in the adjuvant treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN)with deficiency of both Qi and Yin.Methods From January to December 2023,80 DPN patients with deficiency of both Qi and Yin were divided into two groups,with 40 patients in each group according ran-dom number table method.The patients in the Western medicine group were treated with Western medicine,and the patients in the combination group were treated with Tangkang Tongxiao decoction as an auxiliary treatment for 3 consecutive months.The curative effect,adverse reactions,blood glucose level,traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,nerve conduction velocity[motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV),sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV)],oxidative stress index[nuclear factor related factor 2(Nrf2)mRNA,superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),malondialdehyde(MDA)]were compared between the two groups before and after treatment.Results The total effective rate of the combination group was 95.00%(38/40),which was higher than 77.50%(31/40)of the Western medicine group(P<0.05).At 3 months after treat-ment,the glycosylated hemoglobin,fasting blood glucose and TCM syndrome score in the combination group were lower than those in the Western medicine group(P<0.05).At 3 months after treatment,the MNCV and SNCV of common peroneal nerve and median nerve in the combination group were higher than those in the Western medicine group(P<0.05).At 3 months after treatment,the levels of Nrf2 mRNA,SOD and GSH-Px in the combination group were higher than those in the Western med-icine group,and the level of MDA was lower than that in the Western medicine group(P<0.05).There was no significant dif-ference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion TTangkang Tongxiao decoction can improve the clinical efficacy of DPN patients with deficiency of both Qi and Yin,improve symptoms,effectively control blood glucose levels,promote the recovery of nerve conduction velocity,improve oxidative stress indicators,and has good safety.
