Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical characteristics of airway foreign body obstruction in children and the risk factors for hypotension. Methods A total of 102 children with airway foreign body obstruction admitted from Janu-ary 2019 to December 2023 were selected.According to whether postoperative hypotension occurred, they were divided into hypotension group(n=36)and non-hypotension group(n=66).The clinical characteristics and risk factors of hypotension were analyzed. Results Among the 102 children with airway foreign body obstruction,63 patients(61.76%)were males.Fifty-one patients were 1-3 years old, accounting for 50.00%.The main type of foreign bodies was plant foreign bodies in 82 patients(80.39%).The location of foreign bodies was more common in the right bronchus(64 patients,62.75%).There were 53 patients with foreign body retention time less than 1 day, accounting for 51.96%.There were significant differences in age, foreign body retention time<1 d and>3 d,complicated pneumonia, complicated emphysema and/or atelectasis, and duration of operation between the two groups(P<0.05,P<0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age<1 year, foreign body retention time>3 d,complicated pneumonia, complicated emphysema and/or atelectasis, and long duration of operation were independent risk factors for hypotension in children with airway foreign body obstruction, while foreign body retention time<1 d was a protective factor(P<0.01).Conclusion Postoperative hypotension should be considered in children with airway foreign body obstruction who were less than 1 year old,and had foreign body retention time for more than 3 d,compli-cated pneumonia, complicated emphysema and/or atelectasis, and long duration of operation.
