Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of tympanic injection of Batroxobin combined with enteric-coated soft capsules of eucalyptus, lemon and pine in the treatment of secretory otitis media(SOM)after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on 70 patients with SOM after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma who were admitted from January 2021 to December 2023.They were divided into the control group(n=36)and the observation group(n=34)according to the treatment methods. The control group was given oral administration of enteric-coated soft capsules of eucalyptus, lemon and pine, while the observation group was given tympanic injection of batroxobin on the basis of the control group. The pure tone auditory threshold,Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)pain score in the affected ear, levels of inflammatory factors[C reactive protein(CRP)and procalcitonin(PCT)],clinical efficacy and the occurrence of complications before and after treatment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the pure tone auditory threshold,VAS,CRP and PCT levels of the affected ears in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the levels in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05,P<0.01).The total effective rate was higher in the observation group than in the control group[88.24%(30/34)vs 58.33%(21/36)](P<0.01).There was no significant difference in the incidence of complications between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Tympanic injection of batroxobin combined with oral administration of enteric-coated soft capsules of eucalyptus, lemon and pine in the treatment of SOM after radiotherapy for nasopharyngeal carcinoma has a definite effect and good safety.
