Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)emotional therapy combined with N-acetylcysteine on inflammatory factors and pulmonary function in elderly patients with acute exacerbation of chronic ob-structive pulmonary disease(AECOPD).Methods Methods From April 2023 to April 2024,80 elderly patients with AECOPD were selected and divided into two groups by random number table method. Both groups were given conventioanl treatment. The control group was treated with N-acetylcysteine intervention, and the observation group was treated with TCM emotional therapy combined with N-acetylcysteine intervention for 7 consecutive days.Inflammatory factors[interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-8(IL-8)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)],pulmonary function indicators[forced vital capacity(FVC),forced expiratory volume in one second(FEV1),maximum walking distance in 6 minutes(6MWD)],negative emotion scores, and the corresponding factors as well as quality of life and adverse reactions were compared before and after intervention in the two groups. Results Compared with the control group, the levels of IL-6,IL-8,TNF-α,self-rating anxie-ty scale scores and self-rating depression scale scores were lower in the observation group after intervention, and the scores of FVC,FEV1,6MWD and quality of life were higher(P<0.05,P<0.01).The total incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group was 2.50%(1/40),which was lower than that in the control group(12.50%,5/40),showing significant differences(P<0.05).Conclusion TCM emotional therapy combined with N-acetylcysteine intervention in elderly patients with AECOPD can reduce the level of inflammatory factors, improve pulmonary function, alleviate negative emotions, improve quality of life, and reduce the occurrence of adverse reactions.
