Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect of shallow puncture and short needle retention method for reg-ulating spleen and stomach combined with warm acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropa-thy(DPN).Methods A total of 122 DPN patients admitted from January 2020 to December 2023 were divided into two groups by random number table method. The control group(n=62)was given warm acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, and the observation group(n=60)was supplemented with shallow puncture and short needle retention method for regulating spleen and stomach. At 4 weeks after treatment, the therapeutic effect,Toronto Clinical Scoring system(TCSS)score,Michi-gan Diabetic Neuropathy score(MDNS),sensory nerve conduction velocity(SNCV)and motor nerve conduction velocity(MNCV)values of peroneal nerve and median nerve, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,Quality of Life Scale for Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(DMQLS)score, the changes of serum superoxide dismutase(SOD)and ma-londialdehyde(MDA)levels and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate of the observation group was96.67%(58/60),which was higher than that of the control group 77.42%(48/62,P<0.05).After treatment,MDNS,TCSS scores,TCM syndrome scores,DMQLS scores and serum MDA level in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment, and the decrease was more significant in observation group(P<0.05).After treatment,SNCV and MNCV of median nerve and peroneal nerve as well as serum SOD level in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the increase was more significant in observation group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The treatment of DPN with shallow puncture and short needle retention method for regulating spleen and stomach combined with warm acupuncture and moxibustion has a good effect, which can reduce peripheral nerve injury, inhibit oxida-tive stress reaction, improve the quality of life of patients, and the treatment is safe.
