Effect of Triethanolamine Cream on the Prevention and Treatment of Radiation-induced Dermatitis in Patients with Malignant Head and Neck Tumor Undergoing Radiotherapy and Its Impact on Psychological State

Abstract：Objective To explore the effect of Triethanolamine cream in the prevention and treatment of radiation-induced dermatitis(RID)in patients with malignant head and neck tumors undergoing radiotherapy,and to evaluate its impact on the psychological state of patients.Methods From January 2021 to December 2022,80 patients with malignant head and neck tumors undergoing radiotherapy were selected as the research subjects,and were divided into control group(n=40)and observation group(n=40)by random number table method.During radiotherapy,the control group received conventional skin protection measures,while the observation group was given Triethanolamine cream on the basis of the control group.The occurrence time and recovery time of different grades of RID were compared between the two groups.The grades of RID at dif-ferent doses and the scores of anxiety and depression before and after radiotherapy were compared between the two groups.Results The time of different grades of RID in the observation group was significantly delayed,and the recovery time was sig-nificantly shortened(P＜0.01).When the radiation dose was more than 60 Gy,different levels of RID appeared in both groups.The total incidence of grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ RID in the observation group was 15.0%(6/40),which was significantly lower than that in the control group[65.0%(26/40)](P＜0.05).At the end of radiotherapy,the scores of self-rating anxiety scale and self-rating depression scale in the observation group were significantly lower than those before radiotherapy and those in the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The use of Triethanolamine cream during radiotherapy in patients with malig-nant head and neck tumors can significantly reduce the risk of RID and the severity of RID,shorten the recovery time,signifi-cantly reduce the incidence of grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ RID,and effectively relieve patients'anxiety and depression.
