Abstract:Objective To investigate clinical features of extrauterine endometrial stromal sarcoma (ESS). Methods The clinical data of 1 ESS patient who was admitted and treated in our hospital were retrospectively ana-lyzed. Results The patient presented to our hospital because of hypogastralgia for 1 year as well as abdomen mass for 3 months. After admission, based on perfected relevant medical examinations and the results of the examinations of other hospitals, the pelvic and abdominal mass was confirmed. After laparotomy and consultation of doctors in a superior hospital in Beijing, the pathology report showed low-grade extrauterine ESS with smooth muscle differentia-tion. The patient underwent surgical castration of ovaries. At 10-month follow-up after surgery, the patient reported no recurrence nor distant metastasis. Conclusion Extrauterine ESS is an rare neoplasm in clinical practice. Thus, heightened awareness of the disease and timely pathological examination help to avoid misdiagnosis and mistreatment.
