Abstract:Objective To explore the effect of oxygen therapy on the attentional function of schizophrenia patients after modified electroconvulsive therapy (MECT).Methods A total of 160 cases patients with schizophrenia treated by MECT in our hospital from December 2015 to January 2017 were assigned to observation group (n =80) and control group (n =80) according to the order of admission. All patients were given MECT treatment and conventional schizophrenia drug therapy. On this basis, patients in observation group were given oxygen therapy. The patient's mental symptoms,short-term memory ability and attentional function were observed before and after treatment. Results The PANSS scores in two groups were significantly lower 24h and 4w after treatment,as with those 4w after treatment in comparison to 24h after treatment (P < 0.05).The MQ,digital breadth test and coding test 1w,2w and 4w after treatment were statistically significant (P < 0.05).The MQ,digital breadth and coding test 24h after treatment were lower,as compared with those before treatment (P < 0.05).The above indicators 2w and 4w after treatment in two groups and 1 w after treatment in observation group were remarkably higher than those 24h after treatment (P < 0.05).In addition the above indicators 1 w,2w and 4w after treatment in two groups were higher than those before treatment (P <0.05).Conclusion Oxygen therapy improves short-term memory loss and loss of attention in schizophrenia patients caused by MECT.
