Butylphthalide Combined with Donepezil for Vascular Dementia after Cerebral Infarction: a Meta-Analysis

Abstract:Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of butyphthalide combined with Donepezil in the treatment of vascular dementia after cerebral infarction.Methods PubMed,EMBase,Cochrane Library,Wed of Science CBM,CNKI,VIP and Wanfang Data were searched to collect randomized controlled trials (RCTs) about Butylphthalide combined with Donepezil in the treatment of vascular dementia.Both groups were given Donepezil,and on this basis,the observation group was supplemented with Butylphthalide.Literature screening,data collection and quality evaluation were conducted by two researchers appointed.MMSE scale score,ADL score and total effective rate of neuropsychological tests were documented.According to the evaluation system of Cochrane Handbook,the RCTs included were analyzed using RevMan 5.3 software.Results Eight RCTs were included in the study.Meta-analysis indicated a higher total effective rate and MMSE score but lower ADL scores in experimental group than in control group.A significant difference was found in both groups(P <0.05).Conclusion Butylphthalide combined with Donepezil can improve the neurological deficit and daily living ability of patients with vascular dementia,which guarantees good safety.
