Abstract:Objective To investigate effect of laparoscopic and open radical resection on immune function in treat-ment of patients with middle and low rectal cancer. Methods A total of 21 patients with middle and low rectal cancer, who had undergone laparoscopic radical resection, were selected as observation group, and other patients with middle and low rec-tal cancer, who had undergone open radical resection, were selected as control group. Intraoperative and postoperative condi-tions and the immune cell conditions before and after operation were observed and compared in two groups. Results Values of intraoperative volume of blood loss, postoperative anal exhaust time and taking food times and total length of hospital stay in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.05). At the postoperative 1std, in observation group,CD3+, CD4 + and CD4 +/CD8 + levels were significant higher, while CD8 + level was significantly lower than those in control group (P>0.05). At the postoperative 3rdd, CD8+ level was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0.05). Conclusion Laparoscopic radical resection in treatment of patients with middle and low rectal cancer may less affect cellular immune function than that by open radical resection, and it can also reduce intraoperative bleeding volume and shorten the postoperative anus exhaust time, postoperative feeding and the total hospitalization times.
