Inflammatory Myofibroblastic Tumor of the liver:a Case Analysis of Misdiagnosis and Literature Review

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the liver, and for further deepen the understanding of the disease and to reduce misdiagnosis and mistreatment. Methods Clinical data of one patient with inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor was retrospectively analyzed,and its related lit-eratures were also reviewed. Results The young female patient was admitted for fever, abdominal pain and weight loss for 2 months. She has been wrongly diagnosed as Liver abscess and liver malignancy, and given the corresponding anti-infection and anti-tumor ineffective treatment. Finally, liver biopsy was performed to diagnose inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor of the liv-er, which was treated with hormone therapy. Then the symptoms were relieved and the mass disappeared. Conclusion He-patic inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor is a borderline rare mesenchymal tumor, without clinical features, imaging character-istics, easily misdiagnosed as malignant tumor. It is diagnosed by liver biopsy or surgical pathology and immunohistochemis-try, partial surgical resection or conservative treatment is effective treatment, and its prognosis is well. Some inflammatory myofibroblastic tumors of the liver have a certain malignant tendency and require long-term follow-up.
