Abstract:Objective To investigate effect of acupuncture and moxibustion therapy on life quality of patients with post-stroke depression. Methods A total of 132 patients with post-stroke depression were divided into observation group and control group ( n=66 for each group) according to random digits table method. Observation group was given acupuncture and moxibustion therapy, while control group was given conventional drug therapy and all the patients received 3 courses of treat-ment. In two groups, world health organization ( WHO) quality of life table was used to assess the quality of life ( QOL) be-fore and after treatment, and the result was compared. Results Before treatment, there were no significant differences in to-tal QOL, physiology, mentality, social relations and environment scores between the two groups (P>0. 05). After treatment, total QOL, physiology, mentality, social relations and environment scores were significantly increased compared with those be-fore treatment in two groups, and the scores in observation group were significantly higher than those in control group ( P<0. 05 ) . Conclusion Acupuncture and moxibustion therapy may improve QOL of patients with post-stroke depression than that by routine medicine.
