Abstract:Objective To investigate effects of Glutamine ( Gln) combined with early enteral nutrition ( EEN) on liv-er and kidney functions and serum inflammatory cytokines in treatment of patients with severe acute panreatitis ( SAP) . Meth-ods A total of 84 patients with SAP were divided into treatment group (n=42) and control group (n=42) according to the random number table method. Treatment group was treated with Gln combined with EEN, while control group was treated with simple EEN. Levels of liver and kidney function indexes and serum inflammatory cytokines were analyzed before and after treatment for 4 weeks. Results There were no significantly differences in levels of liver and kidney function indexes and ser-um inflammatory cytokines before treatment in two groups (P>0. 05). After treatment for 4 weeks, levels of liver and kidney function indexes and serum inflammatory cytokines were significantly better than those before treatment in two groups, and the improved conditions in treatment group were significantly better than those in control group (P<0. 05). Conclusion Gluta-mine combined with early enteral nutrition in treatment of patients with severe acute panreatitis can effectively improve liver and kidney functions and inhibit inflammatory cytokines, and its effect is better than that by early enteral nutrition only.
