Abstract:Objective To investigate causes and prevention of complications induced by transcutaneous cross joint Kirschner wire fixation in treatment of children with supracondylar fracture of humerus. Methods Closed reduction and transcutaneous cross joint Kirschner wire fixation was performed for 60 children with supracondylar fractures of humerus, and incidence of postoperative complications and recovery conditions of elbow joint function in affected side were observed. Results The 19 patients had different degrees of tension blisters within postoperative 24 hours, and 2 patients had ulnar deviation in postoperative 2 weeks, and the symptoms disappeared by symptomatic treatment. All patients were followed up for 8-18 (10.5±3.2) months. All fractures were synostosis, in which there were 3 cases of ulnar nerve symptoms, and the symptoms disappeared after oral administration of trophic nerve drugs;5 cases had residual varus deformity, and the varus angle was within acceptable range due to good joint function, and parents refused to surgery again.Compared with those in healthy side, there were no significant differences in carrying angle, extension and inflexion function of elbow joint (P> 0.05).The evaluation of curative effect was excellent in 40 patients, good in 14 patients and poor in 6 patients, and the excellent and good rate was 90%.Conclusion Closed reduction and transcutaneous cross joint Kirschner wire fixation is an effective method with few complications and satisfactory effect in treatment of children with supracondylar fracture of humerus.
