Abstract:Objective To investigate UHRF1 protein expression in gastric cancer tissues and its relationship with clinicopathological characteristics of gastric cancer. Methods The mRNA and protein expressions of UHRF1 in cancer and ambient tissues were detected in 102 patients with gastric cancer by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry methods respectively, and the relationship between UHRF1 protein expression and clinicopathological characteristics was analyzed. Results RT-PCR and immunohistochemistry results showed that mRNA and protein expressions of UHRF1 in gastric cancer tissues were significantly higher than those in ambient tissues (P<0.05).UHRF1 protein expression had significant relationship with some clinicopathological characteristics.Gastric cancer tissues of higher UHRF1 protein expression had larger tumor diameter, later TNM staging, deeper infiltration depth, higher incidence rate of lymph node metastasis and histological differentiation degree (P<0.05).Conclusion UHRF1 is highly expressed in patients with gastric cancer, and it is closely correlated with malignant phenotype of gastric cancer, and therefore it can be used as an important assistance index for judging occurrence and development of gastric cancer.
