Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship of intra-plaque hemorrhage and wall remodeling in middle cerebral artery(MCA) with cerebral apoplexy. Methods System analysis of 3D-TOF brain magnetic resonance angiography examination revealed MCA stenosis (stenosis rate≥70%) 118 patients, based on the clinical status and high-resolution MRI(HR-MRI) findings to analyzed the relationship between arterial wall remodeling model and intra-plaque hemorrhage with cerebral apoplexy. Results A total of 118 high-grade stenotic MCA (55 symptomatic and 63 asymptomatic cases) were found in this cohort. There were 38 positive remodeling vessels and 11 cases negativity remodeling vessels in symptomatic MCA stenosis. In the asymptomatic group, there were 15 cases positive remodeling vessels in MCA stenosis and 34 cases negativity remodeling vessels. There was a significant difference between rate of positive remodeling and negative remodeling in the two groups (P<0.01).The incidence of plaque hemorrhage in symptomatic group was 25.45%, which was significantly higher than that in asymptomatic group 4.76%, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusion Positive remodeling and HST1 within MCA plaque on HR-MRI may increase with the risk of cerebral apoplexy.
