Clinical Analysis of 9 Patients with Pulmonary Embolism after Surgery for Malignant Tumors

Abstract:Objective To investigate key points of diagnosis and treatments for patients with pulmonary embolism after surgery for malignant tumors.Methods Clinical data of 9 patients with pulmonary embolism after surgery for malignant tumors was retrospectively analyzed.Results All patients underwent surgeries for malignant tumors,and pulmonary embolism was found at postoperative 1-13 days.Thoracic enhanced CT showed pulmonary artery and its branch filling defect in 7 patients,and then pulmonary embolism was confirmed.Pulmonary embolism was confirmed in 2 sudden death cases according to clinical manifestations combined with medical examinations.After confirming,the patients were required resting in bed,maintaining bowels open and monitoring vital signs;2 patients received oxygen with face mask;7 patients underwent tracheal intubation ventilator assisted ventilation and anticoagulant therapy,of whom 1 patient was treated with urokinase thrombolysis.Among the 9 patients,3 patients died,and 6 patients were discharged after conditions were improved by symptomatic treatment for 2-4 weeks.Conclusion Highly suspected pulmonary embolism patients with dyspnea,chest pain,decreased arterial oxygen pressure and lower extremity swelling should be given related examinations as soon as possible in order to diagnose and treat as early as possible to avoid misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis.
