Abstract:Objective To investigate changes of retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness of diabetic peripheral neuropathy ( DPN) patients with different degrees. Methods A total of 120 DPN patients admitted during January 2014 and February 2016 were selected as observation group, and another 50 healthy person taking physical examination at the same peri-od were chosen as control group. Values of RNFL thickness in two groups were compared, and values of RNFL thickness of different degree patients in observation group were also observed. Results In observation group, values of RNFL thickness of upper and lower optic disc were less than those in control group ( P<0. 05 ) . There were significant differences in values of RNFL thickness of upper, lower and bitamporal optic disc, and average RNFL thickness in DPN patients with different degrees ( P<0. 05 ) . Values of RNFL thickness of upper and lower optic disc and the average RNFL thickness were gradually de-creased with the disease aggravation in DPN patients with different degrees (P<0. 05). Conclusion There is a certain cor-relation between DPN degree and RNFL thickness. Thickness of RNFL is gradually thinning with DPN aggravation. Pathogen-esy and development of DPN patients can be evaluated according to RNFL thickness combined with clinical conditions.
