Abstract:Objective To investigate value of procalcitonin( PCT)dynamic monitoring on prognosis of patients with acute paraquat poisionning. Methods A total of 76 patients with acute paraquet poisionning were divided into survival group (n﹦12)and death group(n﹦64)according to different prognosis. Changes of PCT levels were compared on 1st,3rd and 7th days after admission between two groups. Receiver operator characteristic( ROC)curve was used to evaluate the value of PCT dynamic monitoring on prognosis of patients with acute paraquat poisionning. Results Serum PCT levels on 1 st ,3 rd and 7 th days after admission in death group were significantly higher than those in survival group(P ﹤0. 05). ROC analysis showed that the area under curve(AUC)of PCT levels on 1st,3rd and 7th days after admission on evaluation the death prognosis were 0. 74,0. 78 and 0. 83 respectively. Conclusion Procalcitonin can be used as potential factor, and dynamic monitoring PCT has a certain evaluation value in prognosis of patients with acute paraquet poisionning.
