Abstract:Objective To investigate safety and effectiveness of Bevacizumab in treatment of patients with advanced laryngocarcinoma. Methods A total of 80 patients with advanced laryngocarcinoma admitted during January 2011 and Janu-ary 2013 were divided into Bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy group (n=40) and only chemotherapy group (n=40) according to random digital table method. All patients received Bleomycins+Etoposide+Platinol ( BEP) chemotherapy, while the Bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy group received intravenous infusion of Bevacizumab for every 3 weeks once. All patients received therapy for 24 weeks, and were followed up for 3 years. Health-related scores for quality of life at 28th week after the admission (1 month before the therapy ending) were calculated. Complications associated treatment, grade of solid tumors, progression-free survival and survival rates within 3 years were observed. Results Incidence rates of hypertension were 15% in Bevacizumab combined with chemotherapy group and 0% only chemotherapy group, and the difference was sta-tistically significant (P<0. 05). There was significant difference in effect evaluation for grade of solid tumors between the two groups (P<0. 05). Compared with those in only chemotherapy group, disease progression rate was significantly decreased (P<0. 05);progression-free survival time was significantly longer (P<0. 05); between the two groups, the difference in survival rate within 3 years was not statistically significant ( P>0. 05 ) . Conclusion Bevacizumab can significantly prolong the progression-free survival time and delay condition development without increasing complications in patients with advanced laryngocarcinoma.
