Analysis of Disease Constitution and Influence Factors of Elderly Inpatients in a Hospital in Hohhot in 2014

Abstract:Objective To analyze distribution of primary diseases of the local middle-aged and elderly inpatients in our hospital in 2014 and the influential factors of their diseases, and to provide some clinical data for the prevention and treat-ment of the diseases. Methods The medical records including general condition and primary diseases of 6727 elderly patients admitted in 2014 were statistically analyzed. Results The number of elderly patients of the four districts of Hohhot accounts for 34. 68% of the total number of the inpatients. The male-female ratios were 53. 17% and 46. 83%. The top 5 diseases were cancer, cerebral infarction, hypertension, chronically obstructive pulmonary diseases and acute myocardial infarction. The a-nalysis showed that the education, income, smoking, drinking history and other living habits were the key factors for chronic disease. Conclusion According to the distribution and influential factors of age-related illness, corresponding preventive measures and sufficient medical resources are important in reducing incidence rate of chronic diseases in middle and old-age patients.
