Analysis of the Pathogen Distribution and Risk Factors of Surgical Wound Infection in Patients with Chest-abdominal Trauma after Emergency Surgery

Abstract:Objective To analyze the pathogen distribution and risk factors of surgery wound infection ( SWI) in pa-tients with chest-abdominal trauma after emergency surgery. Methods 560 cases with chest-abdominal trauma who underwent emergency surgery in our hospital during February 2012 and September 2014 were selected, and clinical data of the patients was retrospectively analyzed. The occurrence of SWI was analyzed, as well as the pathogen distribution and risk factors. Re-sults A total of 48 cases in 560 cases were detected with SWI;58 strains of pathogens were isolated, including 26 strains of G+ bacteria, 21 strains of G- bacteria, and 11 strains of fungi. These 48 cases were considered as the infected group, and univariate analysis showed that the difference of incision type, operation time, postoperative nutritional status, antibiotics us-age and injury site was statistically significant (P<0. 05). The above indicators were risk factors for the occurrence of SWI, which were further analyzed by multivariate regression and showed that the incision type, operation time, postoperative nutri-tional status, antibiotics usage were the independent risk factors for the occurrence of SWI. Conclusion The occurrence of SWI in patients with abdominal trauma after emergency surgery is closely related to incision type, operation time, postoperative nutritional status and antibiotics usage. Doctors should reduce the operation time with skilled surgical techniques, enhance postoperative infection monitoring and nutritional status monitoring, so as to ensure the patient's safety.
