Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics of stiff person syndrome, analyze the causes of misdi-agnosis in order to reduce misdiagnosis rate. Methods The clinical data of 2 misdiagnosed cases of stiff person syndrome were analyzed retrospectively. Results Both the two patients were admitted for limb stiffness, and were misdiagnosed as Par-kinson's disease and hysteria respectively. Both underwent treatment with poor effect. Upon admission, they took ENG, cere-brospinal fluid and other tests, after which they were confirmed with stiff-man syndrome. After Clonazepam and Diazepam and other medications, the symptoms improved and were discharged after treatment. Follow-up of 6 months and 1 year showed no recurrence. Conclusion Stiff person syndrome is a clinically rare muscle disease. The main cause of misdiagnosis is due to the lack of specific clinical manifestations and lack of knowledge.
