Abstract:Foreign bodies in the trachea and bronchi are common pediatric emergencies and cause sudden death. Al-though clinical orthopedic treatment techniques develop rapidly, the misdiagnosis rate remains very high as the clinical mani-festation of this disease lacks specificity. Articles about foreign bodies in child trachea entered into misdiagnosed disease data-base count for 99 copies, which were selected from the articles published in Chinese medical periodicals during 2005-2012. Analysis on 99 articles shows that misdiagnosed cases count for 2184, with an average of misdiagnosis rate of 25. 44% . The misdiagnosed cases cover 29 types of diseases, and the top three are: pneumonia, bronchitis and acute laryngitis, accounting for 86. 21% of the total number of misdiagnosed cases. Based on the 99 articles, the frequency and the constituent ratio of misdiagnosis causes are determined, and the top is the imprecise description of the patient's history, accounting for 25. 56% . Among 2184 cases, there are 2178 cases with bad consequences because of misdiagnosis, accounting for 99. 73% , and 6 ca-ses with severe consequences, accounting for 0. 27% . This shows that some infants with foreign bodies in trachea who are in a critical condition need to be diagnosed as quickly as possible. For the suspected cases of foreign body in bronchus, the doctor should perform bronchoscopic examination and treatment soon in order to reduce child mortality rate.
