Abstract:Objective To analyze the applications of proton pump inhibitors ( PPI) in a comprehensive Three-A level hospital in Beijing from 2011 to 2013. Methods The variety, sales amount, DDDs and the average daily cost (DDDc) of PPI were analyzed statistically. Results The total amount of sales of PPI in the inpatient department during 2011-2013 showed a growing trend, and the proportion of proton pump inhibitors in all the medications increased year by year, from 1. 81% in 2011 to 2. 31% in 2013. Esomeprazole rose significantly among the total, but the growth rate of omeprazole declined. From the DDDs ordering, the utilization of peroral dosage form of esomeprazole was higher in these three years, meanwhile, the growth range of omeprazole injection was comparatively larger. The peroral dosage form of pantoprazole and rabeprazole showed a declining trend in DDDs ordering. An investigation showed that utilization of PPI in surgery was growing year by year. Con-clusion The incidence rate of peptic ulcer disease is rising, the first generation of proton pump inhibitors in clinical medicine still occupies a dominant position, but there is a trend that it is being replaced by second generation gradually. The clinical med-icine on proton pump inhibitors ( PPI ) in the hospital is generally reasonable, but the use of drug in surgery should be standardized.
