Expression of Serum miRNA-378 in Renal Cell Carcinoma Patients and its Clinical Significance

Abstract：Objective To investigate the expression of serum miRNA-378 in renal cell carcinoma patients and its clinical significances. Methods Real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) was used to detect the expres-sion of serum miRNA-378 in 3 different groups including 33 Primary renal cell carcinoma(RCC group) patients, 15 patients with benign renal tumor (BRT group) and 20 controls ( control group). RCC patients were detected preoperatively and 6 months postoperatively. Meanwhile, relationships between the expression levels of miRNAs of three kinds and RCC clinico-pathological features were analyzed. Results The difference of expression of serum miRNA-378 showed statistical significance between the 3 groups. Pairwise comparisons showed statistical significance between the 3 groups and that the expressions of miRNA-378 in preoperative RCC patients and benign renal tumor patients were higher than that in controls, and preoperative RCC patients were higher than benign renal tumor patients (P < 0. 05). The expression of miRNA-378 was higher in preopera-tive RCC patients than that of postoperative patients(P < 0. 05). The difference of expression of miRNA-378 showed statistical significance in such factors as clinical stage, surgical approach and the degree of differentiation(P < 0. 01). However, the difference in gender and age showed no statistical significance(P > 0. 05). miRNA-378 screening renal sensitivity rate was 75. 8% , specificity rate was 90. 0% . The area under the ROC curve (AUC) was 0. 88 and , 95% confidence interval was 0. 766,0. 955. Conclusion The expression of miRNA-378 can be beneficial to the diagnosis and forecast postoperative cura-tive effects on RCC patients.
