Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical, imaging, pathological features, the misdiagnosis causes, and pre-ventive measures of the Intracranial hemangiopericytoma ( HPC) . Methods Clinical data of 2 patients with HPC in our hospi-tal misdiagnosed as having other diseases was retrospectively analyzed and related literature was also reviewed. Results One patient was admitted to our hospital for headache and dizziness, the other was for dizziness and walking instability. They were respectively diagnosed as having neuroastrocytoma and meningioma before operation. Both of them underwent microsurgery treatment and were diagnosed as having HPC after postoperative pathologic examination. The 2 patients underwent adjuvant ra-diotherapy after operation. There was no anomalism during the one month of follow-up after discharge. Conclusion The clini-cal manifestations and imaging features of HPC are similar to those of meningioma, and are prone to be misdiagnosed, there-fore the diagnosis of this disease should be based on the combined results of CT, MRI and pathology examinations. Surgery is the preferred treatment method for it. The key factor of a successful operation is to reduce and control intraoperative bleeding. Postoperative radiotherapy and long-term follow-up are also suggested.
