Abstract:Objective To evaluate the value of interferon-γrelease assay of A. TB test in diagnosis of tuberculosis in-fection. Methods The interferon-γrelease assay of A. TB test was performed in 177 patients, who were diagnosed or suspec-ted as having tuberculosis or other diseases, and the results were compared. Results Among the 177 patients, there were 19 patients with smear-positive tuberculosis (group A), 31 patients with smear-negative tuberculosis (group B) and 127 patients with other diseases (group C). Positive rates in group A, B and C were 94. 7%, 83. 8% and 20. 4% respectively, and interfer-on-γrelease assay of A. TB test showed that sensitivity and specificity rates of mycobacterium tuberculosis infection were 88. 0%and 84. 2% respectively. There were no significant differences between positive rates of A. TB test in group A with tuberculosis polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection and acid-fast staining (P>0. 05), but the positive rate was significantly higher than the positive rate of tuberculosis antibody (TB-Ab) detection (P<0. 01);the positive rate of A. TB test in group B was signifi-cantly higher than those by TB-Ab detection, tuberculosis PCR detection and acid-fast staining (P<0. 01). Conclusion Inter-feron-γrelease assay of A. TB test is a sensitive and quick method in detection of tuberculosis infection, and it has some signifi-cant value in diagnosis of smear-negative tuberculosis infection.
