Abstract:ZnS quantum dots(QDs)were synthesized by a low-temperature solid-phase method. The crys-tal structure, morphology and cytotoxicity of ZnS QDs and their effects on the growth and fermentation cycle of Aspergillus oryzae(A.oryzae)were investigated. The results showed that the synthesized ZnS samples exhibited a cubic zinc blende crystal structure with a grain size of 3.5~5.3 nm.When the concen-tration of QDs was lower than 100 Pg/mL,ZnS QDs were non-toxic to HeLa cells and the cell survival rate reached 90.02%.The results of A.oryzae application indicated that the addition of 75 Pg/mL ZnS QDs increased the biomass and pellet size of A.oryzae to 1.43-fold and 2.08-fold of the blank control,re-spectively,while also extending the stable growth period from 108 h to 144 h.The photoluminescence(PL)results revealed that the PL intensity of A.oryzae treated with ZnS QDs was about 3.23 times stronger than that of control sample, indicating a significant improvement in its metabolic activity and DNA synthesis ability. This work provided a feasible strategy for optimizing A.oryzae industrial fermen-tation processes, enhancing yield, and prolonging the fermentation cycle using ZnS QDs.
