Abstract:Through the in-situ formation of nano-NbC in hot deformed NdFeB magnets, the effect of nano-NbC content on magnetic properties and corrosion resistance was investigated. The results show that in-si-tu nano-NbC can effectively improve the magnetic properties of NdFeB.When the mass fraction is 0.10%,the residual magnetism, magnetic energy product, and comprehensive magnetic properties are the highest, which is attributed to the improved distribution of strip-shaped Nd-rich phases at the grain boundaries and the enhanced magnetic crystal orientation. In addition,NbC is also beneficial for the enhanced corrosion resistance of magnets. When its mass fraction is 0.10%,the charge transfer resistance is highest, the cor-rosion current density is lowest, and the corrosion resistance of magnets is best. This is related to the ob-struction of charge transfer and the hinderance of Nd/Fe oxidation by nano-NbC.Such discoveries provide useful reference for the development of high-quality rare earth permanent magnet materials.
