Abstract:Biomass carbon has the advantages of abundant source, low price and wide application.Herein, sweet potato starch was used as raw material to prepare biomass-derived carbon materials with porous structure by alkali-induced gelation-freeze-drying-carbonization method. In this method,KOH not only promotes the formation of gels, but also plays a space-occupying role as a template agent to form porous carbon. The experimental results show that the pore size of sweet potato starch gel derived porous carbon(SPSG-PC)is in the range of 1~2 μm,which was used as dye-sensitized solar cell(DSCs)counter elec-trodes and assembled into devices. The photoelectrochemical characterization tests shows that the photo-voltaic parameters of the SPSG-PC counter electrode assembled devices are close to Pt-DSCs.Electrochem-ical mechanism studies show that SPSG-PC has good catalytic activity for iodine reduction reaction.SPSG-PC has the advantages of abundant materials, low cost and weak pollution, which is in line with the concept of green and sustainable development, and shows potential application in DSCS counter electrode materials.
