Solvent-Directed Syntheses of Two Hydrogen-Bonded Metal-Organic Frameworks
WANG Fei
Abstract:Presented here are the solvent-directed syntheses of two hydrogen-bonded metal-organic frame-works(MOFs),namely,Cd(obb)(en)[NH(CH3)2]·DMF(1)and Cd(obb)2(en)2·DMA(2)(H2obb=4,4'-Oxybisbenzoic acid,en=ethanediamine,DMF=Dimethyl Formamide,DMA=Dimethylacet-amide),which are solvothermally synthesized from same reactants but different solvents.Single crystal X-ray analysis shows that compounds 1 and 2 contain same ID Cd-obb chain and 2D Hydrogen-bond net-work.Differently,compound 1 encapsulates the structural ordered DMF guest between layers via strong host-guest H-bond interaction, whereas in compound 2,the 2D layers link to each other via interlayer in-teractions to generate a 3D framework containing disordered DMA guest molecules. Both compounds ex-hibit good stability in various solvents. It is worth noting that compound 2 exhibits permanent porosity and gas adsorption capability.Under 1 atmosphere pressure, compound 2 has a maximum nitrogen adsorp-tion capacity of approximately 38 mL/g,making it a potential candidate material for gas storage/separa-tion applications.
