Abstract:This paper focuses on the impacts of background and jamming noise in wireless optical commu-nications and proposes a communication system with two modulated quantum numbers. The physical mechanism of noise filtering based on the control of degree of freedom of orbital angular momentum is showed, and the effects of improved signal-to-noise ratio and signal utilization in atmospheric turbulence are studied. The results show that the signal-to-noise ratio can be improved by several times and even more for different turbulence intensities as well as modulated quantum numbers. In addition, the signal u-tilization of the system is more than 50%under any turbulence intensity. When the modulated quantum numbers are large, the signal utilization of the system approaches to 100%.
