Fabrication of Magnetic Crystal Structure Model and Its Application in the Teaching of Metal Crystal Structures
Abstract：To overcome shortcomings of conventional crystal structure models,a new type of model with magnetic balls and sticks was proposed, and the sizes and numbers of balls and sticks in three metal crystal structures were designed. This paper briefly describes the application of the magnetic model in the teaching of symmetry elements, crystal orientation index, crystal face index, coordination number, coordination polyhedron and the close packing. According to the results of teaching experience, the new type of magnetic crystal model is more lively and interesting and is of great helpful to improve the learning interest and teaching effect.
