Abstract:Based on the theoretical analysis of the least absolute deviation and least square method and to counter to the poor stability of the least square method in the prediction of coal-seam gas content, the least absolute deviation was proposed for the prediction of coal-seam gas content. The measured data of coal-seam gas content in a mine were collected and fitting comparison was made on them by LINGO11 and MATLAB tools. The results showed that the application of least absolute deviation to predict gas content could had good stability and high accuracy, so it can be used as an effective method for predicting coal-seam gas content.
