Research on Chain Pillar Width in Isolated Shortwall Fully Mechanized Caving Face

Abstract：To counter the occurrence characteristics of the chain pillars in No. 43M1 isolated shortwall fully mechanized caving face in Wangzhuang Coal Mine, study was made on the roadway surrounding rock stability under different width conditions of the chain pillars by theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and site measurement. The results showed that the critical value of the chain pillar width in No. 43M1 working face was 17m, and these research results can provide theoretical basis and technical experience for the coal pillar width determination, the roadway arrangement and the choice of supporting parameters under similar conditions.
