Study on Petrologic Characteristics of Outburst Sandstone in a Coal Mine in Chongqing

Abstract：In order to understand the petrologic characteristics of T3 xj4 outburst sandstone sample in a coal mine in Chongqing,analysis was made on the geological conditions of the sedimentary sandstone and test was carried out on the composition and microstructure of the outburst sandstone. The results showed:this rock sample is a sedimentary quartz sandstone and mainly composed of SiO2 and meta-aluminate;the rock sample has low average porosity and permeability,the pore throat size is greater than the diameter of methane molecular,and the pore throat size of 2. 5~9. 4μm has a largest contribution value to the permeability;the rock sample is in massive structure,has uneven cross-section,its micro-cracks and joints are undeveloped and have poor connectivity,the micro-section of the sandstone has the conchoidal and ladder-shaped fractures and rare joint plane. The research on petrologic characteristics of the outburst sandstone can help us to differentiate outburst sandstone and provides proofs for the forecast of rock and gas outbursts.
